Founded by Guru Pallavi Degwekar, an internationally acclaimed Kathak exponent and cultural ambassador with nearly three decades of experience, the Gurukul serves as a beacon for aspiring students in the Indian-American community. Located in the NJ/NYC area, it provides comprehensive training in Kathak, blending traditional techniques with modern pedagogy to foster a deep appreciation for Indian classical arts.

Our Gurukul's mission and vision is to ensure the preservation and propagation of this Indian Classical Art form - aiming to foster and uphold tradition and Guru-shishya parampara - bridging heritage and the modern era. Through regular classes, workshops, and performances, Pallavi Kathak Gurukul not only nurtures technical excellence but also instills cultural values, offering students a profound connection to their heritage.
Facilities at Pallavi Kathak Gurukul
Our Gurukul offers structured Kathak training for children, youth, and adults through in-person and online classes. Students are prepared for graded certified exams, conducted through Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University School of Performing Arts, which take place twice a year in April/May and Nov/Dec. These certified exams provide students with an opportunity to be assessed on their progress, marking important milestones in their Kathak journey!
Beyond regular classes, our Gurukul provides curated workshops, stage performances, and cultural events to promote the rich heritage of Kathak.
Our aim is to nurture a deep understanding and appreciation for this beautiful art form within the Tri-State area.
